Fabrik Games is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Lighting Artist to work on an exciting AAA sci-fi/horror project. You will be working within an established team of artists and will be following direction from the Art Director and Lead Artist to create visually appealing lighting in any environment for the project. You must possess solid artistic skills including a thorough understanding of colour theory, composition, light and form. 


  • Create interesting and visually appealing lighting within an established game world

  • Work closely with other disciplines to deliver lighting to a high standard and within game performance limits

  • Take game levels from conception to final lighting and optimisation

  • Work with shading materials and textures to improve the perception of lighting

  • Contribute to the development and placement of related special effects to help create mood and atmosphere

  • Be a mentor to junior members of the Art team and assist in their development

  • A strong understanding of game optimisation techniques


  • 3+ years of experience working on published video game titles

  • An understanding of environment art pipelines and workflows

  • An understanding of lighting pipelines and workflows

  • Experience with 3D software (e.g. Maya/Modo)

  • A strong understanding of realtime lighting solutions

  • A strong understanding of lighting theory including, colour space, exposure, IES, natural light, reflections, and post-processing

  • A strong understanding of PBR

  • A strong understanding of cinematography

  • Experience using current-generation game engines (e.g. UE4/Unity)

  • Experience shipping games on console

  • Ability to follow Art Direction and ability to execute it in game

  • Ability to communicate, organise and prioritise effectively

  • Ability to work in a team, within deadlines and time constraints


  • Experience with Unreal

  • Experience with visual storytelling

  • Experience working in Virtual Reality
