Fabrik is a unique independent games studio looking to expand its highly experienced team in Manchester.

We are about to celebrate our 6th birthday and we are currently looking at expanding our team up to 30 by December 2020 as we are working on a globally recognised sci-fi/horror, AAA cross-platform title for the next 2.5 years.

Over the next 5 years, Fabrik will be bringing the development of world-class games to market with new IP creation always at its heart. This will be done through co-development opportunities and working on future-facing platforms which means further expansion into a different genre of games and technologies.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic part-time HR Manager to help support a talented team of video games developers. This is a standalone role and will see you take responsibility for building the HR function.  This role will see you creating, adapting and implementing new processes, policies and providing best practise across the studio.  You will be the first line of contact for all HR queries.


This is a new opportunity at the Studio, and we are looking for someone who can grow with the role, take the lead for all day to day HR activities and planning.  You will be working closely with the Production team on Recruitment processes and our wider development team to build a knowledgeable, approachable and friendly HR Function with an emphasis on staff wellbeing, training and progression and continuing to push forward to become the number 1 games studio in Manchester. 


  • The first point of contact for all internal and external HR queries

  • The first point of contact for managers for all employee queries, including support with all HR issues

  • Management of sickness and absence across the studio with an emphasis on developing an absence management policy and process flow

  • Ensure HR compliance with GDPR and conduct regular compliance audits

  • Compile HR Reports and data as requested

  • Managing, identifying and creating HR processes, policies and procedures, including rolling out to managers and employees and providing support and training where necessary

  • Support managers with employee performance management including probation periods, regular and ad hoc performance reviews

  • Identifying training needs company-wide and coordinate training and development requirements

  • Supporting the recruitment where necessary to help ensure smooth and effective recruitment and selection process helping implement any policies and support to avoid any potential HR issues arising

  • Create and manage a leavers process including all paperwork and exit interviews

  • The first point of contact for benefit vendors

  • Conducting and providing support to managers in relation to grievances, performance reviews and disciplinary actions

  • Maintaining records related to grievances, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions

  • Complete any ad hoc HR tasks as necessary to ensure business and employees are fully supported and business legally compliant

  • Maintaining HR files and databases ensuring all records are accurate and up to date

  • Identify beneficial HR system for operational needs and be responsible for implementing this company-wide

  • Improve line management capability through coaching and advising


  • Excellent understanding of HR practices and employment law, payroll and benefits and continuously keeping up to date and knowledgeable about all changes within this area

  • Comfortable and confident when dealing with difficult or sensitive situations and managing conflict.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong organisational skills, able to prioritise and coordinate many ongoing tasks

  • Good administration skills, paying attention to detail and accuracy.

Experience Requirements: 

We are looking for someone with previous experience in a HR role (minimum 3 years), who is looking to build on their experience in a stand-alone HR position.  


Level 5 CIPD qualified.  You are confident and keep up to date with changes to employment law, GDPR practises and best practise across HR.


Previous experience of creating, implementing and supporting new policies and processes, alongside developing and improving existing processes.
